Many prescription weight-management medications are FDA-approved for adults with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, or a BMI of 27 or higher with at least one weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes or high cholesterol. Your physician decides whether a medication is appropriate for you based on your health history, current medications and goals.
Before your visit
Complete a short health questionnaire, and have a list of your current medications and any recent lab results handy.
During your visit
Your physician reviews your history, goals and past attempts, answers your questions and talks through your options, with or without medication.
After your visit
If medication is right for you, we send the prescription to your pharmacy and handle the prior authorization request. You then schedule regular follow-ups.
